And So It Went is the new EP from London-born, Mexico City–based artist Other Islands, released on Precious Metals.
The EP interweaves UK club lineages with global sound-system culture from grime and jungle to dembow and baile funk with a lyrical sensibility shaped by both cities. Thundering distorted basslines ground flickering breaths and ghosted vocals, as fractured percussion splinters and melodies surface and recede. Genres fragment and fall apart only to be reconstructed throughout the record’s shifting frame.
Written in the heart of Mexico City, the record moves with the metropolis’s contrary vectors of time. Caught between velocity and recall, it traces moments that stretch and blur; fragments of intimacy, displacement, and remembrance suspended in rhythm and reverb. Shaped by the propulsion of contemporary club forms, And So It Went channels these energies into expressive, textural forms.
